The Thursday Night Project

The Thursday Night Project is a drama group with a difference.

The emphasis is not on performance.
Instead, the focus is on developing skills, broadening horizons creating relationships and encouraging people to be the best they can be - while having fun.

THE THURSDAY NIGHT PROJECT SUCCESS AT THE ALL WINNERS DRAMA FESTIVAL 2019

Congratulations to the Cast and Director of 'Games' who were runners up in the British All Winners Festival 2019 - an amazing achievement for such a  new group.
Well done to Richard, Crispin, Alice, Mary, Parv and Rebecca.
We were delighted to be presented with this impressive trophy by Sir Derek Jacobi.

Every Brilliant Thing
by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe

Following the success of our previous drama festival entries, we are delighted to be the first amateur group in England to be performing this beautiful, heart-wrenching and uplifting piece.

We were delighted that Mary won Best Actress at the Woking Drama Festival and The Thursday Night Project were third overall.

Mary repeated her success, winning Best Actress at Spelthorne & Runnymede Drama Festival. Andrew won the Technical Award, Richard won Best Director and Every Brilliant Thing won Best Play.

We look forward to performing this piece again soon at the All Winners Festival in the Isle of Man.

What people say about our workshops

"Acting is my way of investigating human nature and having fun at the same time."
Meryl Streep
The Thursday Night Project was started in Surrey in response to some local Dads wanting to 'learn about drama'.

Four years and over 100 workshops and 3 productions later, it is attended by a diverse mix of men and women who travel from as far afield as Dorking and Wimbledon. Much of what is learnt has been useful way beyond the confines of the workshops.

The Project is run by Rose Bold Creative and sessions are usually led by professional actor Richard Brimblecombe, who provides the group with a wide cross section of experiential learning, including improvisation, text work, stage craft, acting for film, trust, focus and how to develop a character. Guest leaders have included a West End Musical Director and an award winning film maker.

The workshops can be intense but are always fun. They give everyone the opportunity to develop their creativity and refine their performance skills. The Thursday Night Project focuses on developing skills, broadening horizons and stretching the members to be the best they can be. The emphasis is not on performance.

However, to put what is learnt to the test, a performance element is inevitable – and that is how the multi-award winning productions of “AFTER LIVERPOOL”, “HEADS” and “GAMES” came about.

The group has performed at The Rhoda McGaw Theatre Woking, The Thorndike Theatre in Leatherhead and even the Lamproom Theatre in Barnsley.
